Insight & Approach

The database market is massive and growing, characterized by design wins and driven by broader software growth and enterprise digital transformation. Through a multi-year thematic sourcing initiative, Vector identified MarkLogic as a leader in the most attractive and defensible subsegment of the data management market, with differentiated technology powering mission critical workloads for large enterprise and public sector customers. However, as a portfolio company held in legacy funds of its prior VC owners, MarkLogic lacked access to capital and guidance needed to achieve its full potential. Vector proactively approached MarkLogic's shareholders and management team in early 2019 and built strong relationships which enabled Vector to ultimately acquire the Company in October 2020.

Vector is collaborating with the MarkLogic management team to accelerate product development, enhance the go-to-market strategy, and bolster the leadership team and board.

Results

Vector sold MarkLogic to Progress Software (NASDAQ:PRGS) in February 2023.
